Create Your Own Token Using Horizen TokenMint Token Generator Testnet – Step by Step Guide

Horizen is a popular blockchain that uses Zero-Knowledge-Proofs and bears the strong ethos of privacy being a natural right. It is a general-purpose blockchain that is composed of the main Horizen blockchain and sidechains. Due to its breakthrough technology, Horizen comes with a unique solution to increase blockchain scalability and becomes suitable for various applications. TokenMint, a recently launched platform on Horizen is getting a nice buzz from the crypto community due to its no-code tokenization service. The platform enables anybody to create crypto tokens without any programming knowledge. TokenMint is currently in the Alpha version and more functionalities will be added soon. Here are the steps which can be followed to create your own token with custom tokenomics using the intuitive platform of TokenMint:

Step 1 – Download Cobalt Wallet

Download Cobalt Wallet's latest version from Chrome Web Store. If you use Brave Browser, the same link works for you. Cobalt Wallet supports TokenMint Sidechain of Horizen. Create a new wallet and write down your 24-word mnemonic phrase safely.

Step 1 – Download Sphere Wallet (Testnet)

Download Sphere Wallet (Testnet) from here. Create a new wallet and write down your 24-word mnemonic phrase safely.

Step 2 – Get Test ZEN (tZEN)

Go to HEAP and scroll down to see the ‘Launch a Blockchain’ section. Copy your tZEN address from Sphere Wallet and paste it into the tZEN faucet and claim. Your tZEN will arrive at your Sphere Wallet soon.

Step 3 – Enable the Sidechain Function in the Sphere Wallet

Go to your Sphere Wallet and click on the address that holds tZEN. Click on ‘Send’.

Now you see a screen where you’ll have to activate the ‘Sidechain Function’.

Step 4 – Sending tZEN to Cobalt wallet

Go to the ‘Select a Sidechain’ dropdown and select TokenMint sidechain (starts with 312.. now). Paste your Cobalt Wallet address in the ‘Send to’ field. You can send your tZEN to Cobalt by pressing the ‘Confirm’ button after deciding the quantity of tZEN. Your tZEN will arrive at Cobalt Wallet soon.

You can check the transaction status from Sphere Wallet transaction history.

Step 5 – Access TokenMint Website

Your tZEN has arrived at the Cobalt Wallet now. Go to TokenMint Website and click on ‘Live on Testnet’. Connect your Cobalt Wallet.

Step 6 – Access Token Generator

If your wallet is connected, click on ‘Create Token’.

Step 7 – Select Tokenomics

This screen allows you to select the token name, the maximum supply of tokens and the token symbol. You have complete creative freedom to design your token here. Fill up all fields and then press the ‘Confirm’ button.

Step 8- Token creation

You’ll have to sign the transaction in the Cobalt Wallet. The transaction fee is paid in tZEN. The creation process takes a few minutes.

Step 9 – Mint the tokens

Now you need to mint the tokens. The screen tells you to input ‘Mint to Address’. Paste your Cobalt Wallet address and select the number of tokens you want to mint. You can mint the maximum supply or you may mint a portion of the supply. Press the ‘Mint Tokens’ button. TokenMint block explorer can be used to track transaction status. The transaction fee is paid in tZEN.

Bingo! Your job is done. Your tokens will arrive at your Cobalt Wallet after a few minutes.
